Hey,  I'm Shannon!

I am a Michigan-based photographer, storyteller, and full-time mama to a fearless 4-year-old girl and an adventurous 2.5-year-old boy. I'm married to my biggest supporter, and together we navigate a beautifully imperfect life filled with laughter, love, and lots of flexibility.

Photography found me early on — first as a high school elective, and then a little more seriously during my college years, assisting established photographers and soaking in everything I could about the craft.  

After becoming a mom, that passion took on a deeper meaning. Documenting the fleeting, beautiful moments with my own kids made me realize how important it is to freeze time, even just for a heartbeat.

Life has taught me to be flexible: I’m a food allergy mom, living with autoimmune challenges.  I planned my own wedding in the middle of the pandemic. I’m no stranger to rolling with whatever comes my way—I believe the best photos come from real connection, and I’m always ready to climb a tree, a bridge, or whatever it takes (camera in hand) to capture your story in a way that feels honest and alive.

I studied adolescent and child psychology and youth ministry, so creating safe, welcoming spaces—especially for kids and teens—comes naturally to me. I believe everyone deserves to feel seen and celebrated.

When I'm not behind the lens, you'll find me biking the streets of Detroit, chasing sunsets on Belle Isle with my little ones, or scouting fresh blooms at Eastern Market. And if there’s chips and salsa involved — I’m definitely there.

At Shannon Maureen Photography, my goal is simple: to create a fun, relaxed experience that results in photos full of life, love, and the beautiful, unrepeatable moments that make your story yours.
